Graduates of the Master of Science in Nursing Dual Nurse-Midwifery and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner specialty track are prepared as primary healthcare providers for women from menarche through menopause, with a dual focus on care during pregnancy and childbirth including primary care for the normal newborn up to 28 days and reproductive-gynecologic health and male reproductive health. Graduates of the dual specialty are eligible to take the national certifying exam through the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) to become credentialed as a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) and a national certification exam through the National Certification Corporation (NCC) to become credentialed as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.
The nurse-midwifery specialty track is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME).
