The Master of Science in Nursing specialty track for Nurse-Midwifery prepares students in the art and science of midwifery within the context of advanced nursing practice. M.S. in Nursing graduates are prepared as primary healthcare providers for women from menarche through menopause, with a particular focus on care during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as provision of primary care to the normal newborn up to 28 days. Graduates of the specialty are eligible to take the national certifying exam through the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) to become credentialed as a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM). The Nurse-Midwifery specialty track is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME).
