Course waivers
Students who have already covered course material in previous coursework may request a waiver of that course on a case-by-case basis. The Graduate Studies Chair, along with the Graduate Studies Committee, will determine if your previous coursework is sufficient to waive you out of the course. A course waiver does not reduce the total number of credits needed to complete the degree, but rather allows you to take different coursework in its place.
Direct Transfer Credit for Courses
In rare instances, the Graduate Studies Chair may grant a direct transfer of credit for a course taken at another institution. A syllabus and transcript are required. For example, if a student began a Public Policy (or similar) program at a peer institution and successfully completed a course closely aligned with a Glenn College course, it may be eligible for transfer credit. Please see your advisor to inquire about this process.
