Discussion #4

One aspect of my life that has been changing over the course of my time here at OSU has been trying to maintain my physical health. Going from playing soccer multiple times a week and going to the gym every day has been surprisingly difficult to keep doing here, despite the fact that I’m on my own time and have more flexibility. I’m not sure why this is happening; it could be a result of the change in environment, the significant increase in the number of things to do with my time, just pure laziness, or a combination of all three. Either way, I’ve gone from regularly going to the gym and running, to running occasionally and going to the gym once or twice a week. Eating is also more problematic, since I can’t really make and plan meals on my own anymore, and have to make do with what I find on campus. That’s not to say there aren’t healthy and cheap food options on campus, it’s just much harder to measure what you’re putting into your body, especially when eating only one or two big meals a day. Buffet style dining halls also aren’t the most health conscious way of eating. I still know the difference between healthy and unhealthy food though, and I’m figuring out portions. I’ve been getting better about hitting the gym too, and thankfully it’s close enough to my dorm for weather to not be a issue, and I will adamantly battle the freshman fifteen until it takes my last breath.
