My First Semester at OSU

My first semester at OSU felt like a rollercoaster. There were ups and downs but overall it was very enjoyable and fast. I learned a lot of new information in my classes and in arts seminar. Throughout the semester in seminar, I learned how different forms of art can be used and manipulated in the real world. It was beneficial to hear these different view points to know there are options for people pursuing the arts. Some of my dance courses I enjoyed more than others. I feel like I have improved in my ballet class over the semester and have gained more strength and technique. I also learned in my actual school classes what it takes to study for an exam and how it is much harder than high school. I also am very grateful I joined the club, Dance Connection, because I have met some awesome people who love to dance as much as I do. I have grown as a person in this semester. I have a new appreciation for the arts and what it takes to be successful. I also have gained more knowledge about the world. College is a totally new experience but having such a tight knit group in dance and arts scholars has really helped me settle in to the flow and feel comfortable. I hope to attend more arts related events in my upcoming arts scholars years to continue to learn and experience different art forms. It is always amazing to see the talent on this campus and I hope I can contribute to it with my love of dance and choreographing. Overall, I am glad I made it through my first semester of college and I cannot wait to see what the next semesters have in store.

My First Week at OSU

My first week at OSU has been a roller coaster of emotions. I have been excited, nervous, happy, and sad with in this whole week. Welcome week was very eventful. I enjoyed all the events, especially the free t-shirts and gifts that came with it. The first couple of days felt very long and packed together. I was looking forward to starting a daily schedule once classes start. At first it was stressful, finding the classrooms and all the information, however once I was in the groove by the next week everything became a lot more manageable. I like having a schedule so it was nice finally getting into one. I had very high expectations for OSU and I was not disappointed. The campus is so pretty and I think it is so cool seeing so many different people in one place. Everyone is also very nice and helpful which makes this transition so much easier. I have had many emotions the first week as well. I think because so much was going on the first couple days I never had time to sit back and realize I was in this new space and away from the people I love. With saying this I was very excited and happy at first. However, after the first couple days when everything settled down I started getting homesick and missed all the people who are close to me and who I saw every day. That is what I would say is the hardest part about this transition, not seeing the people I love the most. But with time I will get used to this change and not feel sad anymore. I am super excited to see where the rest of this semester and year has in store. I love the independency I get to experience. I also love my dance classes and teachers. I am also really enjoying learning in a college setting instead of a high school one. Most of all I am very grateful so far that I have met some really cool friends and my roommates and I are already best friends. This week has been a whirlwind but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

About Me

My name is Andrea Moses. I am a first year dance major. I hope to double major or minor in business in the up coming years. After college I want to move to LA and pursue a dance career. When I eventually find a place to settle down I want open my own dance studio to teach young children how to dance. I also want to own a lot of dogs when I am older. Something very unique about me is that I am a triplet and I have an older sister who is five years older. Anyways I cannot wait to continue my dance training at the Ohio State University!
