Year in Review

G.O.A.L.S.

  • Global Awareness: I am completing a double major in Speech and Hearing Sciences and Spanish. To supplement my Spanish major, I am planning on studying abroad my third year in Seville, Spain. One major benefit of this is being able to expand on my Spanish fluency. I will also gain firsthand experience of the Spanish culture and expand my worldview through studying abroad. It is something I have been looking forward to for many years, and I am so excited for it to come. Besides only my third year, I would love to spend one of my summers in another Spanish-speaking country to gain strength in my Spanish skills.
  • Original Inquiry: In my first year, I am planning on participating in research my first year in the realm of language acquisition, especially with regards to bilingual people. It is a topic that has interested me immensely and is also one of the classes that I am currently in right now. I would also love to pursue doing an honors thesis in the future in order to produce my own research. Right now, I am thinking that I would definitely like to research a topic in bilingual studies or language acquisition, maybe even combining the two.
  • Academic Enrichment: I am dedicated towards pushing myself to learn as much as possible throughout my four years here. I plan on taking as many honors level courses as possible to get the most out of my experience. In the summers, I may also take additional classes in topics that I am passionate about. My time in university is crucial for me to gain the knowledge necessary for my success later on in life.
  • Leadership Development: I would love to become involved in Camp Kesem, which is an organization that supports children who’s parents have had or currently have cancer, and become a student leader. I am also a member of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association, and it would be great to be able to grow with that club.
  • Service Engagement: I am involved in Big Buckeye Lil’ Buckeye, which is an organization that serves underprivileged children in the Asian American community. It is an amazing way to spend my free time and I enjoy working with the kids so much. Also, I am a part of the Unchained OSU club, which focuses on educating members about human trafficking and fast fashion. We help volunteer at various events around central Ohio, and at the end of the year, hold a fashion show to raise awareness of human trafficking.

About Me

Hi! I’m Jordan Mori, and I plan on double majoring in Speech and Hearing Sciences and Spanish. One of my main goals is to become a bilingual speech language pathologist who works with kids who are bilingual. I have always admired the one-on-one work that speech language pathologists are able to do, and have always been interested in languages, so this is my dream job. I love traveling as well and hope to travel as much as I can in the future.
