Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: I intend to inmcrease my global awareness by pursuing fluency in German, and pursuing personal and professional development opportunities that will sharpen my German skills, such as an internship with Chemical Abstract Service, which partners with the German firm SAP. Furthermore, my studies in philosophy will broaden my thought patterns so as to allow myself to escape the narrow perspective of personal experience.

Original Inquiry: I intend to pursue original inquiry by seeking out and committing to research in the physics field, or possibly elsewhere. I also plan to take as varied a curriculum as my majors will allow, so as to give myself the necessary background knowledge to ask new and innovative questions. Finally, I will exercise my creative faculty by partaking in more open ended software design competitions and events, such as Hackathons and independent projects,

Academic Enrichment: I intend to enrich my academic career by working towards a double major in Physics and Computer & Information Science, along with a minor in Philosophy. These areas of study will provide breadth, As for depth, a strong  curriculum of honors and higher level courses will ensure that I have a full understanding of the topics I study,

Leadership Developemnt:I intend to grow as a leader by finding ways to spread my knowledge to those willing to learn, such as helping the Metro High School STEM Coding Club. I also intend to assume leadership roles amongst my peers, especially in the setting of student organizations, such as the Ohio Sate Academic Team.

Service Engagement: I intend to live a life of service through both direct and indirect contributions to my community. Direct actions, such as Community Commitment and volunteering at Metro High School, have a distinct and measurable impact on the community, but indirect actions, such as smiling at people on the street, and being couteous to campus employees, all benefit the community just as much.
