My Goals

I believe that everyone has their own special way of viewing the world. Their view of the world is usually shaped by their experiences, including where and how they grew up, which school they attended, their socioeconomic factors, and even more simply, their personality and how their brain is wired to think. I want to be exposed to as many people as possible. I want to hear as many stories as possible. And I want to experience as many cultures as possible. This is one of the main reasons why I chose to attend Ohio State University, the second largest public university in the United States. I also want to use up all the opportunities that this university supplies me. I have plans in the future to study abroad and to complete research. I have already began to travel with Buck-i-Serve, where I went to St. Louis, Missouri and volunteered at the Special Olympics non-profit. We went to multiple schools in the area and set up a mini-olympics for the special needs students. We even hosted a regional Special Olympics Program where multiple schools in the area attended and joined the festivities for an entire day. I gained so much knowledge and was shown so much love on this trip, this is what service is all about. I believe that service can start right in front of you, there’s no need to go across the country to make a change and help those in need. This is why I have already volunteered over 80 hours of service in the last year in Columbus, Ohio. Even though I am just one person, I am devoted to change the world and make it a better place, even if it just starts with Columbus, Ohio. I will use the privilege that I do have to help those who are unheard or unseen. I vow to be the change that I want to see.
