Greetings and thank you for your interest in the Mary Jane Legacy Project (MJLP) Research Study.
Purpose: You are invited to participate in a study exploring and historicizing Black Women’s postsecondary and post-baccalaureate trajectories to, through, and after college. The MJLP name honors Mary Jane Patterson, the first Black woman to receive a bachelor’s degree in the United States. If you qualify for the study, and are selected, you will be asked to participate in the completion of the following:
- One individual interview (60 minutes)
- One optional digital narrative/testimonial video through our Tribute page
Participant criteria: In an effort to disrupt monolithic notions of Black women’s degree attainment and post-baccalaureate experiences, we seek participants who meet the following criteria:
- At least 18 years of age
- Self-identify as a Black Woman
- Attended college in the United States at least 5 years ago
- We would like involvement from Black women who took traditional and non-traditional routes to college, as well as those who went to college or community college, but did not get a degree. Also, we hope to hear from justice-involved women, transwomen, and adult learners!
To participate, fill out our recruitment questionnaire through Qualtrics
