2020 EVENT POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19
Stay tuned for updates!

The Islet Cell Invitational is a golf and dinner event created by a patient with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), Mr. John Reehil, to raise money for and awareness of the new and innovative diabetes research happening at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center. All proceeds from this event help to fund research such as islet cell transplantation which involves patients with T1D receiving close to one million islet cells (the cells that produce the insulin we need to control blood sugar) which are attacked in a person with T1D.  Today, the medical center is conducting a first-in-human pre-islet cell transplantation in patients with T1D with the goal of discovering a functional cure that could significantly improve their quality of life and decrease or eliminate the need for insulin injections.
