Homework 8: Response/reflection
I chose to draw the shed in the back corner of my back yard for this perspective project. My yard slopes downward and my shed is titled and propped on concrete blocks in the very back left corner of the yard to maintain level. I believe the work fulfills the criteria of the assignment in terms of using perspective. I drew a horizon line and used two vanishing points on the horizon lines to create a two point perspective. I followed the lines on the top of the shed to determine where my vanishing points would be and followed the instructions on how to create approximate appropriate proportions by drawing fine lines to vanishing points to determine where the windows and door would be.There is a sense of depth. I included the trees behind my privacy fence and the shed is in front. I added some value and shadows to emphasize the depth. The strengths of my drawing are probably the proportions. My accuracy and effort could be improved upon. I could have made it more clear that the shed is in the corner of my back yard by putting a little more effort into the fence behind the shed because when I look at it I notice it looks as if I just drew the fence behind the shed as sloppy and flat. I did a really terrible job at making it known that the shed is in the corner of the yard, maybe if I would have sat in a different position to of the shed when drawing it I could have made that more clear.
