Homework 5

Homework 5-GE Assignment Research

1. Berthe Morisot-I enjoyed viewing her artwork, she was an impressionist and painted many portraits vibrant, colorful, full of life. I would like to not only draw something in her style, but I would like to try and learn how to paint a portrait like this. What inspired her artwork would be something I would like to write about.

2. Kathe Kollwitz- love her she is wonderful. I did some research on her for a previous class. I would love to do another paper on her and draw in her style. I really value her work because of what she stood for and did during her lifetime, her drawings are so real and portray the rawness of life in poverty.

3. Mary Cassatt- I really enjoy impressionism in art. She reminds me a little of Berthe Morisot, but I like how a lot of her paintings include children with their mothers and portrays the bond between them. I appreciate this type of art because I too share that bond with my children and would love to explore more about her life and try drawing and painting me and my own children.

4. John James Audubon- He was a naturalist and I really like to gawk at realistic artwork. I think he was a little crazy for killing all those birds, but I enjoyed his artwork and would like to spend more time researching and studying his style. I have only painted one bird and it was really fun and a challenge so I would like to try and do another.

5. June Leaf- Her work was interesting to me. She had patterns within her abstraction that was nice to look at. I would be interested in researching more about this artist for sure, it’s a little different from what I normally practice on my own time but Im open to try new a different style.

6. Elizabeth Catlett- Her technique was fabulous. I love all the lines and how she managed to bring them together and create a beautiful piece of work. Her work really tells a story and I truly appreciate art with a purpose. It will be a challenge to draw like this, but I think it will be fun to try.

7. Hans Holbein- He painted so many portraits, which is inspiring because I really enjoy portraits and I would like to build my own collection over the years. Everyone looks so serious. I would be interested in researching more about his artist and maybe considering him when thinking about my GE Assignment.

8. Albrect Durer- Renaissance art is interesting to me. I like to look at all his different artwork he did watercolor engravings prints etc. He really put in the work when adding small detail to his artwork. I don’t quite know if I will be choosing this artist for my Ge Assignment, but I enjoyed all the detail he put into his work and my grandparents have a picture of his famous praying hands hanging in their house.
