Three Final Takeaways

These are my three final takeaways from this course.

1.) It is important that you make sure you are using credible sources when doing research online.  This is can be done by assessing the five W’s of each website you use.  The five W’s are Who wrote the article, Why did they write it (what was the purpose), When they wrote it, Where else is this writing cited, What bias is present in the writing and What is cited by the author (nettutorOSUL, 2014).  I will always check the five W’s when I am using sources in my research.

2.) There are ways to help keep you motivated when you need it.  Students can write down their goals, imagine themselves when they achieve the goal, have a visual that can be seen as a reminder of the goal, keep track of the progress made, and celebrate when progress is made (Cuseo, 2010). These are strategies I will apply to my life to keep me motivated.

3.) Time Management is vital to the success of everyone, especially busy college students.  Luckily, there are ways to help students with this.  Students should make a schedule for when they plan on doing homework, study in a place that has no distractions, not multitask, use peers for help and support, and celebrate when something is achieved (Landry, 2018).  I have found my schedule filling up quickly this semester and will apply these tips to my life to help me manage my school work, extracurriculars, and life.
