Year 2039:  There have been a few changes  made to the city of Columbus. The first efficient change was the addition of solar panels to the side of the street for buildings to use to keep energy costs down. There have also been phone charging kiosks placed on the side of the streets to charge phones while people wait for buses(picture on right) These kiosks are also use the solar energy generated from the panels. Another change is that the buildings are starting to be built taller. This is because the city is preparing for more people to move into the cities, due to the constant increase in population within Columbus. The third change is one targeted to make the city greener. Urban farming has started in residential areas, a food crisis  was looming but had not yet prevailed. However it is hard to find space for urban farming, especially in neighborhoods like German Village.

Year 2064: It is now fifty years into the future and Columbus has increasingly become more efficient since year 2039. A new solar panels design has been put along the streets in order to generate more energy than the previous design. There have also been solar panels added to the side of buildings, increasing the amount of solar energy by even more. Along the street (in the right picture), you see a light rail has been added to one side of High street. This has cut down the use of buses and cars, decreasing the amount of toxins put into the air. As the years increased so has the population and population density is starting to factor into city living space. Urban farm land has been replaced by new housing in many areas. Now many residents have begun to use their  rooftop space as an area for urban gardens.

Year 2089: Improvements on the changes made in 2064 have made Columbus an even more efficient city. In addition to implementing solar power, wind turbines have been added to some buildings, this example was some on top of the police academy. A flying cop car was introduced with solar panel added to roof to show that it is powered by solar energy. This is a special product because flying solar powered cars have not yet been sold on the market. The rail transportation has been extended to other parts of Columbus including the Arena District and other areas downtown. This has reduced the use of buses throughout the city even more. Urban farming has resorted to using mostly rooftops. The population density led to more high rise, flat roof buildings, to accommodate for rooftop farms. Along with rooftop farms, public park space is also beginning to be utilized for urban farming.

Year 2114: It is now 100 years into the future and Columbus’ population has increased by more than 100,000. All the improvements put in over the last 100 are being used to full capacity. The light rail along the streets has almost completely eliminated cars. It has stretched to the highways and  is strictly powered by solar energy. There is now full integration of public urban farming in parks and on rooftops. As you can see there have been several changes made in the Columbus area throughout the past 100 years. Though the population has increased, engineers have designed ways to make the city more green and energy efficient to keep Columbus a safe and enjoyable place to live.
