The Ohio State University Extension Office of Muskingum County will be offering a new class to train Master Gardener Volunteers in 2019. Classes will be held select Tuesdays and Thursdays  in March and April. Class location is 225 Underwood Street, Zanesville, OH. Applications must be completed and returned to the Muskingum County office by December 21, 2018.

The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested Ohio residents, who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities for Ohio residents through their local OSU Extension county office. Volunteers are not required to have gardening skills or knowledge; but a passion for learning about gardening and sharing this knowledge with others is a must!

Questions can be directed to Clifton Martin, Extension Educator at 740-454-0144 or martin.2422@osu.edu. Application instructions are available here.

Training sessions will start at 9:30 AM and end by 3:00 PM.

A final syllabus will be presented at the first session.

Class topics may include, but are not limited to:
Botany, soils, entomology, plant pathology, plant propagation, herbaceous ornamentals, lawns, vegetables, herbs, fruits, pollinators, integrated pest management, backyard wildlife, houseplants, composting, phenology, and local horticulture tours.
