Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: One way in which I enhanced my global awareness recently was through a US foreign policy course. The global diversity credit is what attracted me to take this class initially but after starting it, I can say I was genuinely intrigued. The course challenged me to think about pertinent global issues in new ways. This meant looking at them not just through the lenses of an American, but through the eyes of all nations around the world.

Original Inquiry: I have pushed my original inquires this year through my participation in the STEP program. My faculty leader has pushed my think about who I am and who I want to be a great deal. Personal reflection and meditation are part of our weekly meeting which allows me time to think and process my thoughts.

Academic Enrichment: I have pushed my academic enrichment in my college career thus far through maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout my entire first year.

Leadership Development: My participation in a leadership class, ESHESA 2571, has pushed me to reevaluate what kind of leader I want to be. This course is different than previous work I have done because most previous times focused on how to be leader, while this course focuses on evaluating what type of leader I want to be. It causes me to think a lot about the world around me and how I can make a difference through my actions and leadership.

Service Engagement: I have begun my year of service at the Community Kitchen in downtown Columbus. I serve here twice a week for 3 hours. In my short time thus far, I have developed a whole new way of thinking about situations differently and gained an appreciation for the blessings I have in my life.

Career

About Me

Hello my name is Louie Mezzopera. I am currently a first year student at The Ohio State University pursuing a degree in business with an operations management specialization and a minor in entrepreneurship. I am from a small town outside of Cleveland, Ohio called Chardon. I enjoy spending time outdoors, working with my hands and giving back. I strive to make the world around me better each in whatever way I can because seeing others smile makes me smile. Small business has always been a passion of mine, coming from a family who was raised on self-employment and one day I hope to start and run my own business.
