The University Staff Advisory Committee is an advisory body to the university president. Its mission is to maintain an active and participatory line of communication with the university community and to provide a forum through which university staff can raise, discuss, and make recommendations to support the university’s mission.
Chair, July 2013 – July 2014
Leadership Provide leadership and operational management to 27 member staff advisory body to the Ohio State University president.
Liaison to University Leaders Serve as a direct liaison to the President of The Ohio State University regarding USAC business and staff needs. Maintain regular meetings and communication with leadership of the university, including the Senior Vice President and CFO, Senior Vice President for Talent, Culture and HR, Associate Vice President for Talent & Organizational Development, and faculty leaders.
Strategic Planning Guide membership in setting and attaining goals set in committee’s strategic plan to align with university goals.
Representation on university initiatives Serve as spokesperson for all staff and maintain knowledge of greater university landscape. Serve as advocate for over 22,000 Ohio State staff members at all meetings of University Senate, Senate Steering, Board of Trustees, One University Health & Wellness Council, Parking Advisory Committee, Commencement and special events.
Chair-Elect, July 2012 – July 2013
Championed Staff Development Research and wrote successful proposal to increase staff professional development funds from $10K to $150K.
Committee Management Oversaw the annual USAC calendar, reserved speakers, coordinated new member orientation and onboarding.
Committee Perpetuity Chaired the New Member Task Force, overseeing recruitment, application review, and selection of new members.
Chair of Staff Compensation and Benefits Subcommittee (SCBS), 2011-2012
Subcommittee Leader Direct the work of Staff Compensation and Benefits Subcommittee, organized content for subcommittee meetings and provided reports to the full USAC committee.
Staff Study Lead the effort to conduct focus groups with university staff to discuss and critically analyze concerns and areas of opportunity, analyzed the data received and summarized the data into a professional, concise report.
Presenter Shared the findings of the focus groups to University President, Provost, Senior Vice President & CFO, and Senior VP of Human Resources Committee Contact Acted as the liaison between USAC and the Office of Human Resources (OHR).
Recorder, 2010-2011
Meeting Planner Prepared and distributed the agenda for all full committee meetings and executive committee meetings.
Archivist Recorded the minutes of all full committee meetings and executive committee meetings.
