Program Manager, Community Outreach & Development    
2012 – Present
The Ohio State University, Marion Ohio 

Manager for community relations and development programs targeted toward building relationships with alumni, donors, and community partners. Lead projects from concept and initial planning through implementation and completion. Communicate and promote campus happenings via local media, alumni lists and event marketing plans.

Community Outreach & Promotion                 Co-direct the Science Café, monthly scientific presentations, secure presenters, and organize publicity, including print, radio, email and web. Plan and manage Kids College, a 3 week summer camp program, secure instructors, plan publicity to local elementary schools.

Development & Donor Relations        Secure funding for several special events through private donations from individuals, corporations and community foundations.

Volunteer Development          Manage the membership of an alumni volunteer group, plan monthly meetings, coordinate guest speakers, and schedule volunteers for events on campus. Plan annual holiday dinner and visit to The Ohio State University Columbus campus.

Event Planning            Serve as project manager of The Norman Thomas Lecture, an annual political presentation and assist with The Harding Symposium, an annual two-day historical symposium hosted by OSU Marion.

Records Management            Process donor gifts in the OSU donor records system. Track gift levels and produce recognition correspondence.

Program Manager, The Prairie Nature Center
2003 – Present
The Ohio State University, Marion Ohio 

Direct all operations of the nature center including the organization and hosting of large events, annual native plant sale, and educational programming to thousands of visitors annually. Train, supervise, motivate and evaluate all employees, interns and volunteers. Conduct long term planning, including staffing, fiscal and land management components.   

Outreach & Education             Design educational programming that meets state standards for various audiences with different abilities and interests and create educational materials to work in conjunction with educational programs.

Marketing        Promote and publicize the nature center through website, social media, print media and local radio programs. Promote the use of the Prairie Nature Center as a research site for undergraduate, graduate and faculty research projects.

Records Management             Maintain records and reports including management history to document the history of the prairie, and management procedures. Develop budgets and plan for expenditures to ensure the fiscal health of the nature center.

Land Management      Plan, schedule, and supervise the management of 10+ acres of tall grass prairie including invasive species removal and planning for prescribed burns. Plan annually to increase the quality, acreage and species diversity, locate seed sources to complete these improvements. Coordinate the construction, repair, and maintenance of the facilities in the prairie area including buildings and nature trails.
