Disadvantaged Youth

Thank you to the Boys and Girls Club for providing insight on how to engage kids in the environment and provide for those who are disadvantaged. The disadvantage youth of Columbus are an important group that needs to be involved in the Franklin County Metroparks. By engaging with the youth we are able to impact the future of Columbus.

The Metroparks caters to all ages and provides many educational programs as well as free activities to engage in. While some programs require a fee to participate, there are many free activities that can be enjoyed free of charge. The trails, nature centers, natural play areas and even the obstacle courses are available at no cost. Creating a safe place for children to engage with and learn about nature fosters a

Every Metropark has trails that can be used for walking, biking or hiking. The whole family can use the trails as pets are allowed on many of the trails! There are eight Greenway trails that connect the community to various parts of Columbus. There are also trails in every Metropark. These trails range from easy to more difficult. There are also multiple American Disability Act approved trails for any kids with disabilities to utilize.
