G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: Surrounding myself with a diverse population is one of the major reasons I decided to attend Ohio State. I believe that you can learn a lot by surrounding yourself with people from different backgrounds and ethnicities. I plan to possibly do volunteer work abroad in Central America through Ohio State so I can meet and communicate with a new variety of people and learn from them.

Original Inquiry: Research at Ohio State is a great way to get a foot in the door so to speak into all the real life science experiences Ohio State offers. This summer I plan to get involved in research in areas of chemistry and biochemistry while also taking classes at Ohio State.

Academic Enrichment: Ohio State offers me the ability to take rigorous courses so I can challenge myself on a daily basis and advance my educational career. While at Ohio State, I plan to obtain a B.S. degree in chemistry and, I also plan to pursue a minor in potentially pharmaceuticals. I feel that majoring in chemistry will challenge me in the classroom and also prepare me as I plan to apply to competitive medical schools.

Leadership Development: Ohio State provided its students with the ability to be a true leader in society because of all the opportunities it offers and it is my mission to take advantage of these opportunities to become a strong leader. Outside of the classroom, I plan to spend my time being a leader in the community. I am a member of the Ohio House of Science and Engineering at Ohio State. As a member of this program, we travel to local metro schools in Columbus where we have the opportunity to encourage science courses to many of the young adults and children in Columbus. Additionally, I would like to become an active leader in a club here at Ohio State that I am passionate about.

Service Engagement: The best way to give back to the great community of Columbus is through service. I have already helped with the Zero Waste project at Ohio State which does a great job of limiting waste at football games. I also plan to try and volunteer at Riverside to see what it’s like to be in a hospital environment and to see how I can help in anyway.
