Exterior Perspective Buildings in Landscape

I had some problems while doing this drawing…  for the location of my drawing I choose main street in Bellville, Ohio.  The initial drawing (the linework) that I made for this project took about 6 hours.  When I went to shade the drawing, I wanted to use wet watercolor in other words its watercolor ink that is then mixed with water to thin out the intensity of the ink.  The paper that I had chosen however could not hold the water properly… I was very upset with the result so I sit down again and did the drawing again.  Then I shaded it with graphite and water soluble pencils (I did not add water however).

This was my final drawing (second attempt) of main street, below the progress images I’ll include the previous try and references for the street itself

This is the original line work before I tried to shade it^^

Refinished linework before shading^^

This is the perspective that the drawing portrays which is approximately 20 ft down the street from where I sat^^

This was the perspective from where I was actually sitting and drawing from^^
