For primary care physicians and other healthcare providers, there is an essential component to weight management that starts in our offices. And that is how we talk to our patients about obesity, because those conversations set the stage for medication prescription, dietician management, and surgical treatment. On this CME webcast, we’re going to look at the most successful strategies that you can use in your daily practice to discuss obesity with your patients. We’re pleased to welcome clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry from the Ohio State University, Dr. Ashleigh Pona.

As a result of this educational activity, webcast participants will be able to: Teach learners how to screen for and evaluate obesity and utilize different methods to adequately treat obesity as a chronic, relapsing, multifactorial disease; and Teach learners about the negative consequences of weight bias and stigma, particularly in healthcare, and how to talk about weight with patients in a non-judgmental, non-stigmatizing way.
