Updated Ideas:
Cleaning Pack:
- An iteration from the original fanny pack idea is a cleaning pack
- By using the general belt fastening attribute we made something better suited to the problem we identified as we saw the challenges users had when clearing surfaces to clean
- The Cleaning Pack is a wearable tool that assists users with picking items up, by giving them a stable and convenient place to store them
- The cleaning pack allows them to maintain full mobility as it can be adjusted to any spot on the waist so it does not obstruct reach
- The basket is made of flexible material with enough rigidness to stand items up and hold them in place (unlike a bag) but is not so rigid that items will break
Exoskeleton:
- The exoskeleton will be fabricated with lighter materials [elastic straps, metal hooks, thinner plastic body] to reduce cost and be more accessible for users.
Velcro Fashion Tape:
In order to update this idea, the group decided that we could either
- Allow this “tape” to be rolled onto a user’s shirt similarly to moving tape, or a lint roller. This would only require users to use one hand to attach the Velcro unlike before.
- Allow users to stick magnetic buttons to their clothes so that they use less product and this will allow users to get ready faster.
EZ Lift:
In order to update this idea, the group decided that we could:
- Make the table more collapsible for better storage.
- Apply a griping texture to the table surface to help hold objects in place during loading.
Handheld Mouse Cleaner:
- A handheld mouse-sized product that holds a cleaning solution that can be sprayed, while being attached to a detachable rag
- Update
-
- More ergonomic design; Grooves for fingers and curves to the shape of the hand
- Different attachments for different surfaces (ex. Scrubber, buffer, wet wipe, etc.)
New Products:
Velvet S Hook:
- Holds clothes in S shape, can be re-bent to fit other shapes for clothes. Can fit clothes on with one hand
Item Scooper:
- Acts as more of a sweeping motion to collect all items in one motion
- Update
-
- 2 arms that can enclose what is inside with the pull of a one-handed lever (see below for handle example
Lazy Susan in the Fridge:
in the center of the refrigerator, a microwave dish-sized plate that rotates around will provide users the ability to reach items that would be typically hidden in the far back end of the refrigerator. The hassle of reaching in the back of the fridge for food was a notable problem in our research.
Detachable Table Drawer/Net:
One of the problems that the cleaning blade was unable to solve, was that even though a user could use it to clear items off of a surface quickly, they’d have nowhere to store their items. With a detachable drawer for their table, a user would have a place to store their items when cleaning off their surfaces.
Similar to how the cleaning blade was able to expand and “telescope” to fit the width of a person’s table, the actual drawer will be able to do this as well so it fits the width of a table.
Additionally, in order for a user to pull the drawer out from under their table, the hooks/handles that hold the drawer in place can also “telescope”.
Stabilizing Step Ladder:
One of the problem areas discovered by the team was maintaining balance while accomplishing cleaning tasks. The way this ladder does this is by giving the user added stability while reaching hard-to-reach objects/spaces. The way in which this device implies additional stability is by using flexible, rubberized silicone folds to grip and hold the user’s knees or feet as they stand/kneel on the top step. These folds allow the user to safely lean into the area they need to reach. Additionally, the stabilizing rails extending from the arms of the ladder keep the user from over-extending and potentially falling off of the ladder.
