Problem Definition – Reflection

The group feels very comfortable with the current state of the design project and felt this assignment helped with that due to the various tasks that built on each other. This helped shed light on where we might want to focus and that started with the creation of our persona. It took a little bit of time of creating that persona and making sure we capture all of that person’s motivations, frustrations, and goals. Through this process and last week’s immersion research, it all came a little more natural as we felt we picked up on the major annoyances quite quickly. The team would even say this was solidified through the formulation of the mindmap. We feel that by having all of the group members do three distinct tasks we covered a lot of ground and really understood which tasks stood to be a challenge. Furthering that, we were able to break down the struggle components of each task. After seeing how other companies go about this process in class, we felt the dots connected quite seamlessly. Then after seeing the biggest trouble areas, stabilizing and safety, it became apparent on what the top priorities our product must address. Although, it was important in the problem statements to treat each problem with utmost importance. We will say we are a little concerned on truly balancing these problem areas in our next step, however I think after some time to reflect we will generate and agree on next steps. Holistically, the team has continued to learn what WE value in products we use everyday and all agree that is critical for our product.
