Final Prototypes

The Pillow Holster helps people with limited upper limb mobility change their pillow sheets. Similarly to how one would line a small trash can with plastic grocery bag, the user wraps their pillow case around the arms of the Holster and secures it into place with clips. The user can then easily drop in their pillow with one hand and out comes a dressed pillow!

The VacuuPan makes sweeping easy. Simply sweep up a small pile of dust and small garbage in front of the dust pan, and switch the on/off switch to the ‘on’ position. The VacuuPan ensures everything you sweep up is collected and stored for easy disposal. Designed with differently abled people in mind, the VacuuPan is easy and intuitive to use.

Here are the final prototype images for Jack’s “Hang-Easy”.  As you can see, there are two clearly distinct modes for this device, the collapsed mode, which is the first image, and the expanded mode seen in the rest of the images.  This product solves two problems at once, as it props open the neck area of your shirt, so that it is easily accessible and wearable by somebody with one arm.  Also, it dually acts as a hanger, allowing for somebody to insert their body directly from underneath the shirt in the same way, which you see in the last image.  This solves the issue of putting on a t-shirt for somebody with limited mobility.  The picture sequence follows the steps one would take to use the “Hang-Easy” as you first slide the product up inside the shirt, resting it just below the neck area opening.  Then, from inside, you slide the lever up to extend the frame, creating the opening.  To wrap things up, take the product-shirt combo and place it over your head, letting your head region into the opening shown in image 6.  Finally, slide the lever back down, and remove from underneath the shirt.  Simple as that, the “Hang-Easy”!

The design from the pictures is Zip-Zip which comes from Henry. Zip-Zip is a gadget in everyday life. Zip-Zip will become a necessity for those who wear clothes with one hand, especially for those who often wear jackets and dresses. The size of Zip-Zip is very small, so it is very portable. After putting on clothes, you can just put it in your pocket or bag. The usage of ZipZip is very simple, as shown above. Just pass Zip-Zip through the button hole on the clothes, and then put the Zip-Zip button-shaped model on the button, and gently pull it. The button will be drilled directly through the hole. Experiments prove that there is no problem with one-handed operation, and even the two-handed operation will greatly reduce the time of buttoning. ZipZip will be priced at $9.99 and can be purchased for just $5.99 for people with a disability certificate.
