MCR students that wish to make changes to their curriculum can do so by completing and submitting the appropriate form in Beacon. Any changes to a student’s curriculum plan and course schedule should first be discussed with their faculty advisor to determine if the change is appropriate for their degree progress and career goals. Depending on where a student is in their progress toward graduation, a curriculum change may significantly delay their timeline for degree completion, as many MCR courses are only offered during certain semesters and may require other courses as prerequisites. If, after discussing their options with their faculty advisor, a student wishes to request a change in their curriculum, they can do so by following the instructions below. Completing a request may require the submission of the student’s current curriculum plan, which can be accessed in Beacon, or their advising report, which can be accessed in BuckeyeLink under the Academics tab.
Changing from Part-Time to Full-Time or Full-Time to Part-Time
If a student wishes to change from either a part-time or full-time status, to the other, they must submit the Change To/From Full Time/Part Time Status – MCR form in Beacon. Once this request is officially reviewed and approved by the student’s faculty advisor and graduate program manager, their curriculum plan will be changed in the College of Nursing system. The student should review their new curriculum plan in Beacon to confirm that the change has been made and aligns with their initial request. They should contact the MCR Graduate Program Manager if it does not.
Changing Specialty Tracks
Similarly, if a student wishes to change from one MCR Specialty track to another, they must submit the Transfer To/From a Specialization in the MCR Program form in Beacon. This request will then be officially reviewed by the student’s faculty advisor, graduate program manager, and the chairperson of the Graduate Studies Committee. If it is approved the student’s curriculum plan will be changed in the College of Nursing system. The student should review their new curriculum plan in Beacon to confirm that the change has been made and aligns with their initial request. They should contact the MCR Graduate Program Manager if it does not.
Other Curriculum Changes
For any other changes to a student’s curriculum plan, they must submit the MCR Curriculum Change Request form in Beacon. Once this request is officially reviewed and approved by the student’s faculty advisor and graduate program manager, their curriculum plan will be changed in the College of Nursing system. Like with the other changes above, the student should review their new curriculum plan in Beacon to confirm that the change has been made and aligns with their initial request. They should contact the MCR Graduate Program Manager if it does not.
