Transfer Credit and Course Waiver

A master’s student at The Ohio State University must complete a minimum of 30 graduate-level credit hours. The Master of Clinical Research (MCR) program requires a minimum of 36 graduate-level credit hours. Eighty percent of this credit must be new credits and must be completed at The Ohio State University over a period of at least two semesters. For students transferring coursework into the MCR program from another institution, up to 7 credit hours may be applied to the minimum credit hour requirement for the program.

All 12 credit hours of the College of Nursing’s Clinical Research Management graduate certificate may be transferred and applied to the MCR program if the certificate is completed.

Any MCR curriculum coursework taken at OSU prior to enrollment in the MCR program must be transferred and is not automatically applied to the student’s degree progress. To transfer this MCR curriculum coursework, please complete the Committee and Examination Form in GradForms. Be sure to select “Other” and then explain your request. A student may apply up to 10 credit hours of graduate non-degree credit from OSU to the MCR program.

Students that are clinicians or have completed college-level Pharmacology coursework prior to enrollment in the MCR may have the PHR 5010 Fundamentals of Pharmacology course requirement waived. In this case, a substitute course must be chosen to be completed in its place. Please contact the MCR Graduate Program Manager about course waivers and selecting an appropriate substitution course.

To transfer coursework taken at another institution, the student must complete and submit the Transfer a Course into the CON Grad Program form in Beacon, which will require the inclusion of syllabi of the original courses.
