About Me

11753659_866576500045941_4726862790989811910_nMy name is Matthew McNeill, and I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. I graduated with honors from a branch of a public high school called the Academy of Global Studies (AGS). This program emphasized project based learning, teamwork, communication, and global perspective on current events. I hope to utilize these skills in my future career wherever it may be.

I am currently an undecided major at The Ohio State University. I do not know my future career as of right now, but hope to decide by the end of my first year. For a long time I have had an academic interest in the environment, and a more recent interest in business. I hope to maybe combine these two interests into a single career if possible in order to make real world changes in the way that businesses interact with the natural environment. That being said, I am a huge supporter of ‘plan B’. I could really see myself having many different careers, which is part of the reason why I am an undecided major

Aside from these interests, I have a love for experiencing new and exciting things. Over the summer after my senior year, I went for the first time to the state of Alaska. While there I visited the Denali reserve and took a bus tour through the hills and mountains of the park. Our tour group spotted everything from dall sheep to grizzly bears and it will remain for a long time as one of my favorite adventures. The year before this trip, I left the country for the first time to see Switzerland. I went with a high school group to do service projects and some adventuring on the side. We worked in assisted living one day, and took a cable car to the top of the Schilthorn the next. It was an incredible experience. My interest in the environment lies mostly in exploration and new discovery. There are so many things in the natural world to be seen and experienced, and some may not be there forever. I hope to never look back and realize that I have missed out on something that I may not have the opportunity to see again.

My goals for college and for my career are to find something I enjoy doing which will also contribute to the greater good. Being a part of ENR is the first of many steps which will put me on the right path to achieving my academic and personal goals.
