Prism Monograph Supplement – Call for Manuscript
Prism: Theory and Modern Chinese Literature presents cutting edge research on modern literary and cultural production in, as well as outside of, China. It also publishes works that study the shaping influence of the traditional literature and culture on modern and contemporary China. Prism actively promotes scholarly investigations from interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, and comparative perspectives. It encourages integration of theoretical inquiry with empirical research and strives to foster in-depth dialogues between Western and Chinese theories in ways that shed new light on modern Chinese literature and culture.
To enhance the “Theory” component as accentuated in the Journal’s subtitle, the Journal will publish an annual supplemental issue, titled the “Prism Monograph Supplement.” Supplements will focus on the application of theory, both Western and Chinese, to the study of modern and premodern Chinese literature. To ensure continued broad, high-quality submissions, the Journal will also publish supplemental issues not focused on theory. Each supplemental issue will have a coherent structure around a single theme. Our present plan is to publish one supplemental issue per volume per calendar year.
Each monography supplement will carry a distinct cover design and an ISBN number of its own and will be made available for purchase on Amazon.com and other online vendors, in addition to being distributed through Duke University’s regular networks of journal subscription and sales.
We welcome book proposals that fall into the supplement’s purview. Due to the lack of manpower, we will not be able to provide feedback on submitted proposals. If we are interested in the proposal, we will contact the author within one month after its receipt. If we are interested in the proposal, we will contact the author within one month after its receipt. All manuscripts will go through the standard peer-review process for books as adopted by reputable university presses before acceptance for publication. Please send proposals to firstname.lastname@example.org.
