Call for Papers – Chinese Science Fiction Cinema
A special issue of Journal of Chinese Film Studies (De Gruyter)

Submissions are invited for a special issue on Chinese Science Fiction (SF) cinema. Articles addressing cinematic works from all periods and Sinophone regions are welcome. Topics may include, but are not limited to, themes of travel and transportation, gender and sexuality, communication and transmission, infection and contagion, and death and extinction, as well as time travel and uchronic narratives, ecological and environmental concerns, posthuman and non-human perspectives, and utopian, dystopian, and heterotopian visions. Attention to transmedial phenomena positioned at the interstices of cinema, television, literature, graphic novels, video games, etc., are also encouraged.

Deadline for abstracts (300-500 words, excluding references): May 1, 2023
Abstract decisions: June 1, 2023
Submission of full manuscripts (6000-8000 words): September 1, 2023
Resubmission of manuscripts with corrections: December 1, 2023
