Assistant Professor in Residence, Chinese

The Department of World Languages & Cultures at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a full-time, renewable, non-tenure track faculty position in Chinese at the rank of Assistant Professor in Residence. The position carries a 4/4 teaching load, with a mix of lower- and upper-division Chinese courses based on department needs. The expected start date is July 2022. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching university-level Chinese language and topical courses, a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success, and a willingness to make significant contributions to the program’s growth through active service. The candidate’s research expertise is open.

This position requires a Ph.D. in Chinese or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university, native or near-native proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English, and a documented record of excellent undergraduate teaching. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
