Cha: An Asian Literary Journal has recently published an exclusive essay by the internationally renowned translator Bonnie S. McDougall about the Hong Kong writer Dung Kai-cheung’s work. The essay primarily focuses on Dung’s The Catalog, a new English translation of which will be available soon. But it also contextualises Hong Kong’s recent history, its writings, and its conducive environment for free literary expression.
