Florida International University position

The Asian Studies Program (ASP) at Florida International University (FIU) seeks to hire a new Program Director at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The areas of geographical focus and research specialty are open, but there is a strong preference for scholars in East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, or Korean) studies and in the field of anthropology, geography, history, international relations, modern languages, politics, or religious studies.  Duties include serving as the primary administrator of a growing area studies program that offers B.A. and M.A. degrees with various tracks, certificates and minors at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and is engaged with diverse outreach and community-based projects. It is expected that the director will have a vigorous research agenda and be an excellent teacher of interdisciplinary courses in the field of Asian Studies.

Qualified candidates should possess a Ph.D. by the date of employment. A successful candidate must be a specialist but may work in any discipline or conduct comparative work. The position is tenured/tenure-track, with appointment at the rank and in ASP and the department commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications.
