China is so crazy it needs a new literary genre (1)

I thank Literary Hub for picking up Ning Ken’s piece for their website. I have a necessary note to add about LitHub’s source (which it does cite on its webpage). This is a talk that Ning Ken gave at Middlebury College on October 26th last year (and at Harvard shortly after that). My revised translation of Ning Ken’s talk has just been published in The New England Review (Vol 37 No 2) under Ning Ken’s title, which is “Writing in the Age of the Ultra-Unreal.” NER and its editor, Carolyn Kuebler, are very supportive of global literature and translation, and so I wanted to make sure they were acknowledged.
