Patches of Light

One of the parts of G.O.A.L.S. is service engagement. During my first semester of college some members of the Green Engineering Scholars and myself went to a place called Patches of Light to volunteer. At this service engagement my peers and I helped the organization build a garden. This is an organization that provides sick children with places to learn and do activities. The garden we built was for the children to learn about how to eat healthy and eat natural fruits and vegetables. This was a great time to explore the community of Columbus and meet new people. I am glad that this event has fulfilled one of my G.O.A.L.S., and I am excited to continue doing service engagement like this due to the positivity it spreads through people and communities.

MyIntent Bracelet

MyIntent Bracelet was something that I received due to my part in the Honors and Scholars program here at The Ohio State University. Each member of the program was asked to put a word on their bracelet that meant something to them. I put the word “Truth”. The reason I chose the word truth is because I believe it is important to stay true to yourself no matter what the situation may be. With the start of college there was a lot of new people and events going on where it is easy to act like someone not yourself. Not only does this bracelet remind me of my morals and the values that I stand for, it also is a reminder for why I am here. The bracelet tells me that I am a part of the Honors and Scholars program and it serves as a way to implement my academic goals in my everyday life.
