What is the Green Team?
The Green Team is a group of Ohio State University and Wexner Medical Center employees dedicated to improving health in our communities through reducing carbon footprints, supporting natural resources and educating others on why this is important and how we can work together to make change.
Our mission is to inspire staff to take action at work and at home to address environmental degradation as a social determinant of health.
What does the Green Team do?
The Green Team leads educational webinars, demonstrations and sustainability-related projects such as recycling collection, native planting events, Innovation Teams and Earth Week celebrations. We also participate in planning larger events, such as sustainability symposiums, with the broader university and medical center community.
How often does the Green Team meet?
Green Team members can be as involved as they’d like in individual events. Currently, the Green Team includes hundreds of members who meet virtually every quarter for group updates and more frequently (about once a month) for periodic educational webinars with guest experts. Most educational presentations are online webinars, though there are occasional in-person demonstrations.
Members meet in person for individual projects as they’re able. A small leadership team helps coordinate these events and organize volunteers.
