G.O.A.L.S.

G.O.A.L.S. Statement:

Global Awareness: To accomplish the Global Awareness section, I am hoping to spend at least a semester abroad in a foreign country. I lived and grew up in California, and as a result have seen much of the West Coast, since moving to Ohio, we have been on several road trips both to the East Coast and the southern United States. Because of both of these factors, I have been able to visit and spend time in much of the continental U.S. which has already started to contribute to this goal of global awareness. Apart from previous experience and my plans to travel abroad, I am also currently taking, and planning on taking classes studying cultures I may never get to experience, but am still interested in learning about.

Original Inquiry: The section of Original Inquiry that I feel I will be most likely to fall into is creative production. I am still largely undecided about my major and future career but I have always been interested in and enthusiastic about the arts. Projects within the arts do not always have to be black and white, they can be in the grey area, but that does not make them wrong. Through continued exploration and utilization of the many services here on campus I feel that my inspiration and knowledge of creative production will only grow.

Academic Enrichment: As I am still undecided, Academic Enrichment is not hard to find. While I do know that I need to pick a major here soon, I am able to try out different courses that I think I might be interested in in all different fields and major areas. Being able to take these classes at the honors level allows me to gain a deeper understanding of the subject material and provides me with a better sense of whether or not this is something that I would be interested in doing for the rest of my life.

Leadership Development: Over this past summer I participated in a program called R-LEAD, which is residential leadership program that requires students to move in a week early and spend that time developing various leadership skills. During this time I was able to introduce myself to leadership on the college level and start to pick out the differences between high school and college leadership. I plan on returning to the program this summer as a peer leader and continuing my leadership experience.

Service Engagement: Service Engagement is something that I have been quite familiar with throughout my high school years. I went on mission trips and volunteered with several different organizations, I was in National Honor Society which was a program based on volunteer work and service in the community. My current college service experience is relatively limited but in the future I plan on getting involved with Buckeye-Thon and possibly Buckeye-Serve and being a part of those organizations in order to further my service experience.
