G.O.A.L.S 2

On November 18th I went to the Woody Hayes Recreational center as a member of the Ohio State Marching band, and saw the football team practice, as well as play a few school songs for the team. I got to take a picture with Dwayne Haskins Jr. and meet some of the other football players. I also saw Urban Meyer for a brief period of time at the end of the practice. The senior band members all got to be in a picture with him. The only thing I wish I did was stay longer because it was so much fun. I would definitely go back next year since this event only happens once a year. It definitely made Columbus feel more like home meeting all these great people and unifying a great team and a great band. I would definitely recommend giving band a try for this wonderful experience.

This is my calculator. This describes me as a person because I love math. I am also a very analytical thinker so I can relate to it. This has saved me on tests, homework, quizzes, and assignments. I use it for everything involved with math this semester. I programmed a lot of formulas into it so it helps me with all sorts of problems. I am very similar to this calculator because I like numbers, and I was made to do math. Without my calculator I would be nowhere, and I would be extremely bored because calculators are very fun.

G.O.A.L.S.

On Sunday October 28th, my group of HES Scholars and I went to Kafe Kerouac to get a feel for activities in Columbus. At the Kafe, our group socialized and explored the scenery of the small building. We discussed what we liked most about the Kafe. My favorite part was the atmosphere. The smell of freshly brewed coffee, the humble furniture, the soft jazz playing in  the background, and the small space felt very unique to me. My least favorite part was that it was a little tight, but it wasn’t a big deal. During this experience I learned that it could be a good place to study or relax, to escape the enormous and hurry-up atmosphere of campus. I would definitely go back, and next time I go, I’ll try some coffee. It would be a lot more enjoyable with a friend, so I would definitely recommend a friend to come with and play a board game.

Artifacts

This is my practice drum pad and drumsticks. Other than school I am very passionate about drumming. I ordered this custom pad online about 3 years ago, and it means a lot to me. Not only has it allowed me to grow as a drummer, it is something I have to escape some of the stressful or negative aspects of life. If I have a bad day, I’ll just sit down with the practice pad and learn some new licks, or freestyle along with music. It’s a great way to meditate, or relax my mind. This also defines me as a person since I drum in the Marching band here at Ohio State.

About Me

Greetings! I am Jackson McClellan a first year at Ohio State. I am currently studying engineering as undecided, but I will likely pursue a degree in Engineering Physics. My academic interests include mathematics and physics. My passion for these topics are what drove me to Engineering in the first place. I love to learn and expand my knowledge of these subjects, as well as gain skills needed for a future career.  As for a career, I would love to work at a job where I know I’m making a difference in this world for the better. I am a very goal oriented person, once I have them set I must reach them. This applies to academics as well as extracurricular activities. My passion for music has led me to a spot in the Ohio State Marching band on snare drum. Ever since I picked up drumming in 8th grade I knew it would be a passion of mine, and I plan to keep improving myself as a musician as well. Overall, I love setting and achieving goals for myself, learning as much as possible, and enjoying my time here on Earth to the full extent. Success only comes from setting goals!

My 5 Strengths:

  1. Analytical – I am talented at thinking objectively, and reasoning through problems to create workable solutions.
  2. Context – I use the past as my foundation, I learn from the past to make a better future.
  3. Ideation – I’m fascinated by ideas. I like to find connections between the real world and what I learn in class.
  4. Adaptability – I am very adaptable and I like to ‘go with the flow’ and often find news ways to solve problems each day.
  5. Input – I live to learn, knowledge is limitless!
