The Maximin Project

The Maximin Project is a student organization committed to maximizing the global minimum. We focus on philanthropy education and raising funds for evidence-based, high-impact causes in the developing world that alleviate global suffering. Additionally, The Maximin Project empowers students to contribute their time and resources beyond themselves with opportunities for service on the local level in Columbus, Ohio. If a student wakes up one morning and wants to do some good in the world, whether local or abroad, we aim to be a one-stop-shop resource they can turn to. For the 2019-2020 academic year, The Maximin Project will be dividing its primary efforts between three areas: Foundational Focuses Initiative, Giving Games, and Star House donation collecting.

Foundational Focuses

For our Foundational Focuses Initiative launching in Autumn of 2019, The Maximin Project is empowering students with their own projects focused on opening dialogue and actively addressing the problems facing the world today. Learn more here.

Giving Games

The Maximin Project, with the help of the international nonprofit organization The Life You Can Save, is fundamentally changing the way the Ohio State community learns about, and practices, charitable giving. In order to do this, we have created a scalable, effective, and sustainable form of philanthropy education tailored specifically for the Ohio State University. We aim to produce a culture of giving on campus where skillful, generous, and informed donors support organizations that achieve the most social impact. Learn more here.

Some History

Once upon a time, the Maximin Project was a non-profit organization seeking to collapse the distance between education and action with regard to extreme global poverty. This video from our 2013 Indiegogo campaign provides a good overview of that stage in our development.
