An Application of Pythagorean Theorem

This media asset is an interactive learning module using Captivate.  It focuses on the Pythagorean Theorem and an application to a real world problem – finding the height of a tree that a cat is stuck in.

The infographic features two main learning objectives – identifying and applying the Pythagorean Theorem.  There is a description of the history of Pythagoras and an image of a right triangle with labeled legs and a hypotenuse to help students understand how to identify the a, b, and c values.  There is an interactive matching activity where the learner needs to identify the legs and hypotenuse of a triangle.  There is a step-by-step demonstration on how to use the theorem to solve for an unknown side length.
Finally, there is a sequencing activity where the learner needs to connect and apply the Pythagorean Theorem in a real-world problem, finding the height of a tree that a cat is located on top of.
