Alan Mather is a first year student the in the College of Engineering. He is a part of the Green Engineering Scholars program and has been conditionally accepted into the Civil Engineering major. He first took interest in civil engineering when he shadowed a civil engineer during his junior year of high school and enjoyed the experience. Alan also loves to learn about history and is considering pursuing a minor in the history of Pre-modern Civilizations. Outside of the classroom, Alan is a member of the ΒΣΨ fraternity. He was on the soccer team in high school and loves to play and watch soccer, with his favorite team being Arsenal, a London-based soccer club. He also plays the trumpet and was in his high school marching band where he also played the bass drum for a season. He currently plays the trumpet in the OSU Athletic Band. Alan was on the Academic Challenge team at his school and was on local TV for a competition where the team came in ninth place out of almost 80 teams across northeast Ohio.
