About Me

Hi there, my name is Laura Martel, and I am from Solon, Ohio. I am pursuing a major in Medical Anthropology on a pre-medicine track.  I am a Health Sciences Scholar within the University Honors and Scholars Center. I aspire to become a pediatrician, because of my relentless passion to help others and my interest in biological sciences.

In college, I am pursuing a B.S. in Medical Anthropology, in hopes to pave my path toward medical school. In terms of campus involvement, I am a member of OSU Hillel, an organization celebrating conservative and reform Jewish life on campus. I am also a member of Meshuganotes, the premier Jewish a capella group at the Ohio State University. Although I am not pursuing Judaic studies as part of my coursework, my passion for Judaism is clearly outlined by my extracurricular roster.

In the years to come, I will attend medical school and pursue a career in pediatrics. As a Hostess at Corky and Lenny’s Delicatessen in Woodmere, Ohio, and as a Team Member at Wendy’s in Solon, Ohio, I have worked and interacted with all ages. All of my jobs have fostered my interpersonal development and taught me values of patience and understanding when working with the greater public. As a pediatrician, I will pair my infatuation with the biological sciences with my desire the help those around me.

I identify strongly with the greater Jewish community. This community has given me support and allowed me to pursue my passions without judgment. This E-portfolio demonstrates my talents that have contributed to my academic and professional development.
