Agelenopsis pennsylvanica

One of several similar species in this genus that are referred to as “grass spider” because they are so frequently encountered at the edge of grassy fields. They are members of the family Agelenidae, the funnelweb weavers. Their sheet like webs include an opening, shaped like a funnel, that leads to the retreat where the spider takes refuge when it feels threatened.
