I am really excited about this direction Marilyn and happy to see you filled up the whole page in such an interesting way! I actually see many connections to your ink assignment here in the story use of space. I know that was something we spoke about in person today, and I see you already used that strategy of “building” the collage outward here. There is a strong sense of design and composition in the piece – the way you center your subject and use symmetry! I also applaud the use of abstraction / simplicity (the silhouettes) on top of realism/ complexity (a compounded landscape). I think the fact that you used cut paper with text for the figures allows the viewer to put themselves in the shoes of the of figures / identify with the image. We are invited to imagine as if we are looking at the campus on a fall day while sitting on the bench ourselves. I am interested to see how it will be translated in your drawing copy!
