I think your original collage is hard to translate into a drawing because you really used the colors / textures / patterns of your source material in a unique way. I felt like you were really drawing with those shapes in that composition, rather than having your source material define the content of that collage – -which is a great tactic! Here the drawing becomes a simplification of that, telling a similar but also different story.
I am wondering if you know about the cartoon library at OSU? I notice the header image of your blog and then also I see something cartoon-like in this drawing and your collage. OSU has an amazing collection and also some good online resources – here is a link: https://cartoons.osu.edu/ You might find some inspiration here!
