GOALS

Reflection on the G.O.A.L.S.

  1. I have developed my global awareness through various courses I have taken so far such as Spanish, Abnormal Psychology, History of Cinema, and Economics of the Developing World.  I have also developed my global awareness through things such as going on a BuckiServ trip, which I plan to do again before I graduate.
  2. I am currently in my second semester working for the Clinical Neuroscience Lab as a research assistant. I plan to continue working in this lab until I graduate and possibly conduct my own independent research project with the data I am currently helping a PhD student collect for his dissertation.  I also plan to take a social psychology course next semester in which the main part of the course is to come up with a research project idea, collect data for it, and present your findings at the end of the semester.
  3. My future aspiration is to obtain a PhD in clinical psychology and become either a professor or start a private practice as a clinical psychologist. I didn’t have this aspiration until this year (junior year), so it wasn’t until this year that I switched my major from business to psychology, and I have challenged myself by already taking three honors courses in psychology, as well as working nine hours a week in the Clinical Neuroscience Lab on campus.
  4. I am currently involved with the Clinical Neuroscience Lab and College Mentors for Kids. For CMFK specifically, it helps me be a better leader through working with elementary school kids every week.  I hope to have a larger role in the organization next year.  I also hope to possibly become a lab manager in the lab I am working at, which would give me much more responsibility and improve my leadership skills as well.
  5. A short-term service activity I was engaged in was when I went to Florida for a BuckiServ trip. College Mentors for Kids is also service-oriented; it is completely free for the kids and they get to come to campus every week and do various activities with us.  I also plan to start working with children diagnosed with autism this summer through the Haugland Learning Center.  I plan to continue this job and College Mentors for Kids until I graduate, and most likely go on another BuckiServ trip.
