Global Awareness: This year, I earned the Diversity, Intercultural and Community Engagement (DICE) Certification. I attended meetings for a club I really enjoy called Advocates for Inclusion and Diversity through Education. Each week we learned about a different social justice issue and discussed it in a constructive way. Additionally, through my position on the HSS Leadership Council, I arranged Social Justice Engagement workshops coordinating with the Multicultural Center to provide HSS students with opportunities to earn the DICE certificate. Becoming more aware of and being able to discuss social justice issues provides one with a well-rounded global view which is incredibly valuable in a professional setting as well as in how we treat each other in day-to-day life.
Original Inquiry: Honors & Scholars students understand the research process by engaging in experiences ranging from in-class scholarly endeavors to creative inquiry projects to independent experiences with top researchers across campus and in the global community. For example, consider research, creative productions or performances, advanced course work, etc.
Academic Enrichment: My RA , Aaron, will be graduating this semester after just three years of undergrad and is taking a gap year to conduct research before applying to medical schools.  He has worked very diligently in all of his classes and was able to shed some light on his experiences.  He was able to explain to me the best classes to take, how he has been preparing for the MCAT, how summer classes work, and what to expect when applying to med school.  Not only has Aaron not only helped me navigate my freshmen year at Ohio State, but also helped me prepare for the rest of my undergrad experience and beyond.
Leadership Development: My role on the service committee of the HSS Leadership Council has provided me with opportunities for professional development, teamwork, and leadership. Each member of the team is treated as equal and contributes their unique strengths and interests to the group. I have also gained experience in coordinating with other groups in the OSU community as well as throughout Columbus. I have enjoyed being able to help plan opportunities for HSS students to learn, develop and work together to better themselves and our community.
Service Engagement: This year, I got involved in community service through HSS Service Saturdays at Garden of Hope, Global Brigades Campus Parc fundraisers, American Red Cross blood drives, and the MLK Day of Service at COSI.  Being on the service committee for HSS Leadership Council also helped me become involved in and more aware of service opportunities on and around campus.
