My name is Alexis, I’m from Novi, Michigan and I’m a first-year student at The Ohio State University.  Even after being on campus for just one week, I often get asked why I chose Ohio State when people learn that I am from that state up north.   The supportive and familial atmosphere of programs like Morrill Scholars and Health Science Scholars attracted me when it came down to deciding on a school.  The Health Science Scholar program particularly interested me since helping others and the medical field have always been interests of mine.  This summer I trained to be a Certified Nursing Assistant which was amazing exposure to patient care as well as medical terms and practices.  My training strengthened my interest in the medical field and I look forward to exploring it more in college.  With the guidance I will receive as a Health Science Scholar, I hope to one day become a doctor or PA.
