My group and I took a COTA bus to the Short North and visited Mission Coffee Company. It was a coffee shop that had an interior that was both warm and inviting (especially on a cold and rainy Columbus day). Although I do not drink coffee, I was able to find other things on the menu, such as hot chocolate. From this experience, I learned how diverse the city of Columbus really is. A coffee shop that looked straight out of a movie was a two minute walk from an exotic candy and soda store. I don’t think I would go back to Mission Coffee Company because of my dislike of coffee, but I was glad I to gain a new experience with my group.

Columbus To-Do List – Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed this project and the experiences it allowed me to have. The project made me more comfortable with riding the COTA bus and navigating the Short North. Since my focus was on restaurants, I was able to find some places I would like to return to in the future. My favorite part of the project was discovering the banana foster milkshake at Bareburger. Even in my least favorite experience, Eden Burger, I learned that Columbus is a diverse place that has a lot to offer. A recommendation I would make to anyone trying a similar project would be to not be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. I found that in all my experiences I got have a good time with my friends. In the future, I hope to continue to explore the city’s great eateries and, hopefully, discover some more places that I can become a regular.

Columbus To-Do List – Eden Burger

Eden Burger was the final trip my roommates and I made on our Columbus experience. Unlike the previous two experiences, I was not satisfied with the establishment. We decided to try Eden Burger because we were all craving a cheeseburger. While I was eating, however, I realized the burger was not made of meat. I had thought the restaurant was organic only and not vegan, but I was wrong. Eden Burger was one of the greatest shocks of my entire life; unlike Bareburger I am not willing to return for another meal. This experience taught me that I am and will never be a vegan.

Columbus To-Do List – Bareburger

My roommates, some friends, and I decided to eat at Bareburger for our second Columbus experience. We took the COTA bus down to the Short North, not knowing where we wanted to go. Located next to the North Market, Bareburger’s decor was as extraordinary as the food. The burger was delicious, but it was largely overshadowed by the banana foster milkshake (depicted below). I consider myself lover of milkshakes, and I can honestly say this was the best milkshake I have ever tasted. I would highly recommend Bareburger to anyone. The restaurant was a little too expensive to make regular visits, but I will definitely return some time in the future to devour another milkshake.

Artifacts #1 and #2

The picture above was taken on my phone at the 2016 Ohio State-Michigan game. This is significant to me because my dad, an alumnus of The Ohio State University, always got tickets for him and I to go to one or more Buckeye games each year. Not only were the games a great opportunity to bond with my dad, but football games at the Shoe were really what forged my love for The Ohio State University. I bleed scarlet and gray, and I cannot wait to have even more experiences with Ohio State football in the future.

I strive to be a balanced student, so integrating intramural sports into my schedule was a focus of mine. I have been drawn to sports since I could walk, and my competitive nature is really tested when I play. Joining an intramural football team was one of the best decisions I have made since arriving on campus; through the team I have met some great people who share a lot of my interests. I am looking forward to playing intramural sports throughout my time at The Ohio State University.

Columbus To-Do List – Rocket Fizz

I have decided to explore the local food favorites and food trucks theme. The category is relatively broad, so I decided to allow it to encompass local candy and drink shops. The category as a whole is intriguing because it encourages me to explore popular Columbus food spots. I have lived in the Columbus area my entire life, but I have not explored all the eateries around downtown. I am hoping to discover a new favorite place to eat, and hopefully this project will instill a desire in me to explore Columbus even further in the future. The first place I visited was Rocket Fizz in the Short North on October 7th with my two HES roommates. The experience was very interesting, and I anticipate myself making a return very soon. The store had a large assortment of bizarre pop flavors. I personally decided to purchase grape, black cherry, butterscotch, and pumpkin pie flavored soda. I became even more comfortable with taking the COTA bus; I learned that the number two COTA bus can also be taken back from the Short North to campus. I am excited to continue to explore the local food favorites category and to try even more great food and drinks.
