Wealthier People

Pathos Example: “Walking and bike riding makes you happier and more engaged in your community” (Roberts 133). This is an example of Pathos because the author, Roberts, is trying to pertain to the readers emotions by saying walking and bike riding makes you happier. He is trying to appeal to their emotions.

Ethos Example: “The paper, by researchers Stephanie Moser and Silke Kleinhückelkotten (Swiss and German respectively), begins with a review of some past research, which has taken two basic forms” (Roberts 134). This is an example of Ethos because the author, Roberts, is giving creditability to an outside source, and showing the readers that this is trustworthy information.

Logos Example: “Basically, research shows that the cynical view is roughly correct: Environmental identity will lead to some relatively low-impact (high-signaling) pro-environmental behaviors, but it rarely drives serious reductions in the biggest sources of lifestyle emissions. Environmental self-identification rises with income, but so do emissions. (A 2012 study and a 2013 study, both based on a survey in Hungary, found roughly the same thing.)” (Roberts 135). This is an example of Logos because, Roberts is giving logical information to the readers, and backing up his logic with a case study.

Roberts theory of Climate Change is extremely useful because it sheds light on the difficult problem of people not taking small basic actions to help the environment. He states the important idea that Climate Change is way too big of a problem for a bunch of normal human beings to be able to fix on their own. Although, he makes a good point that if a big group of people started doing everyday things to help the environment, the problem of Climate Change could be reduced.
